Arlene’s Story

Arlene

The thing that attracted me most to becoming a barrister was the role of advocacy. When I think about Jesus and how he fights for the underdog – how he speaks up for those who don’t have a voice – then I know that I’m doing what Jesus would want me to do.

Jesus made a difference wherever he went, even if the people criticised him for what he was doing; he did it regardless.

There’s a scripture in Colossians which says:

Whatever work you’re doing, do it heartily, as unto the Lord.

There are days when this job is very challenging and you feel that everyone is against you. But then I look back and think about Jesus and what he went through.

I’m adamant, in my work as a barrister, I am ultimately responsible to God.
